Open call from European academics to the European Institutions for a post-growth future
September 2018
On September 18-19, 2018, scientists, politicians, and policymakers gathered in Brussels for a landmark conference. The aim of this event, organised by members of the European parliament from five different political groups, alongside trade unions and NGOs, is to explore possibilities for a “post-growth economy” in Europe. On that occasion, 238 academics had launched a call to the European Union and its member states to plan for a post-growth future in which human and ecological wellbeing is prioritised over GDP.
